Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 - September 2nd Tag

I have another tag for Tim Holtz's 12 tags 2016 September

This is Tim's tag.

I made another tag to see if I could master the Alcohol Ink Resist Technique, and I did!!  One butterfly, some stars, hearts, text, and a sentiment. What I love about the technique is, if you don't quite get it right the first time, you can reink over the resist area and do the technique again. Botched Yuppos can be reinked and used again.. Amazing product and great technique.
I normally use blues or browns so red is a real change for me.

The film strip is from the 'Lost and Found' stamp set. I stamped the image on a piece of acetate then cut around the image.
'Everyday' is from the Friendship words set.
The numbers are from 'Parker' dies. Not sure who made these.

See you next month :)

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Theme 'Inspired by Music'

Today's tag is for SSS Monday Challenge with a theme of 'Inspired by Music'.

When I first saw the theme for the challenge I thought, I have no idea what I could do for a music theme. Then, the first line of Adele's song 'Hello' came to mind, followed by the tag almost exactly as you see it now.
Hello, it's me...........................  A wee bird calling to his mate.
The bird and tag are done on watercolour paper and are coloured with distress inks. I stamped the bird a second time and just cut and coloured a second part to his beak so it looks like he was singing.

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 - September

Today I have another tag for Tim Holtz's 12 tags 2016 Series. This is Tim's tag.

I am still collecting my Tim Holtz products so have substituted and played to get the effect for this month's tag. My Yuppo paper arrived yesterday, after the tag was done, so there may be another tag for Sept. As I was trying out techniques I made two tags.
For this tag background, I used Tim's Technique then added stamping, stenciling, and splatters.
The umbrella man was created with shiny board, methylated spirits and alcohol inks. I remembered how these products acted for the polished stone technique from 8 or so years ago. I added alcohol ink to a felt pad with a little MS (methylated Spirits) and squished the ink on the background. When the background was dry, I took my umbrella man stamp and using my finger, I smeared the surface with MS then quickly placed the stamp on the background and left it there for several minutes. The edge isn't as crisp as Tim's image but I still like the effect. I used a jelly pen to add a bit of sharpness.
I used a mask and stamped the background with teal text.
The stars and numbers were too detailed for the MS technique so these are stamped in a slightly translucent white pigment ink. This sort of gave the same effect.
I have added machine and hand stitched 'x's' and straight machine stitching.
The film strip is from the 'Lost and Found' stamp set. I stamped the image on a piece of acetate then cut around the image. The numbers were found at the end of film reels when they weren't spliced!!
'HERE' is from the Friendship words set.
The numbers are from 'Parker' dies. Not sure who made these.

This is the first tag I made. I embossed the script on the background then embossed the umbrella man over the top.

Until next time, happy crafting.

SSS Monday Challenge - It's a stitch up

The theme for the SSS Monday Challenge this week is to use Sewing or stitching in some form.

I love to use fabric and stitching with paper. The background is a piece of Hessian cut and frayed a little larger than a piece of calico cut with a TH tag die. If I had canvas available I would have used that. I stitched the two together then added some gesso. This stiffened the piece to a large degree. I stamped the background and the dress form using The Dressmaker stamp set from Oxford Impressions.

I added colour using Distress Inks and Markers. Hand and machine stitching also added.
